How are taxes determined on my bill?

Federal, state and local governments often impose taxes, fees and mandatory surcharges on wireless/phone services. The Federal Mobile Telecommunications Sourcing Act requires companies to tax the customer for services based on the customer's primary place of use (i.e., the customer's residential or business service address that is located within CLEAR's licensed service area). This address is assigned to a taxing jurisdiction based on local government boundary information. The types of services that are taxed, and the applicable tax rates for each of these services, are based upon the taxing jurisdiction assigned to the customer's account.

If you have questions about the purpose of any of the taxes or other governmental fees or surcharges that appear on your bill, we suggest that you call your appropriate federal, state or local government official.
